When the pointless, unnecessary “I don’t even know why I’m crying” tears just keep coming, the show must go on… At least we’ve got Mummy and Me and Daddy and Me date night to look forward to!
We are definite advocates for date night with the kids in our family, especially as we have a shared custody agreement with my husbands ex spouse, it gives us that special 1 on 1 time that not only we but the kids cherish!
There are so many reasons why date night with the kids is a winner, to name but a few:
- The kids feel special because we’ve taken time out especially for them: they look forward to it
- Relationships are strengthened
- It fosters trust and communication
- The kids are able to communicate in a safe environment where there is no criticism or judgement, only listening and understanding, which means that they’re willing to tell us so much more about what’s going on with them at school, spiritually, mentally etc
Dieter Uchtdorf once said
If you are looking to improve or strengthen relationships between parents and children I’d definitely encourage you to consider it: It’s a biggie. It took us from being those old people who tell us what to wear and make us do chores to mum and dad whom we love and like to be with.
Give it a go, what’s to lose?
